I've had PF for over two months now. New experience for me and very painful. Didn't want to go to the doctor except as a last resort, because research indicates their prescribed treatment is by night splints, ice packs, and stretches, and I can handle that without the expense. Also don't like the idea of shots or surgery. I first bought a dorsal splint, one that attaches on the shin and front part of the foot with Velcro straps. The reviews mostly said they were comfortable to sleep in. Well, this dorsal splint was sure enough comfortable, but allows your foot to flex downward. The idea is to keep tension on the plantar tendon during the night by angling the foot at or slightly greater than 90 degrees. The dorsal splint doesn't work well achieving this.
So I bought this splint and have used it a few nights now. I wear a size 9 men's shoe, and the medium fits well. The straps take a little time adjusting, but t his only has to be done once due to buckle clips. The splint holds your foot securely with the ball pointed slightly upward. After just one night I could walk around in the morning without much foot pain, something I could never achieve with the other splint. Other reviews have stated not to be fooled by the low price and I agree. The same splint at a local medical supply business was priced at one hundred fifty pounds (another health care rip-off). So far this is a great product at a great price.
